For the love of dog, our backyard hangout spot should be safe!
Dogs and other pets may not know what plants are good for them or what plants are toxic! It is our job to make sure our lawn-scapes are safe for our pooches.
In this article we are going to focus on a few native to California plants that are safe for dogs AND look good in our green spaces.
It is always important to monitor your dogs and ensure they aren't ingesting too much plant fiber. While the plants we chose in this article are not toxic too much of even a good thing can be bad!
Plant fibers do not break down in the digestive system as fast as food or water.

Sun Flowers
Sunflowers are edible even for humans! But they are also safe for your dogs. This particular flower is called Helianthus Californicus which is a native to California sun flower.

Rosemary
Rosemary not only looks good when it blooms it smells good too! This variety is called Limonium Californicum! It is safe for pets to ingest (even cats!)

Dandelions
Dandelions aren't necessarily a plant many people choose to put in their yard, but they are safe for pets and native to California! The variety shown is called Agoseris Grandiflora. Some people refer to these as weeds, but they are pretty when flowered!
